Black Friday 2025: what to expect from this year's PC, console and tech sales

Black Friday 2025 is almost here. The biggest shopping holiday of the year has evolved from a single day into a weekend's worth of deals on all manner of tech, homewares and basically anything you can think of. This year, the big sales bonanza starts on November 28 2025 and runs over the weekend into very early December. We've already seen lots of unofficial early Black Friday deals from retailers, but expect that to continue in a more official sense as we get closer to the big day.

When the time comes, I'll be in the deals trenches with you, as will my esteemed colleague and big bossman Will Judd. Together, we've covered thousands of tech deals over the years on everything from PC components and peripherals, to TVs and less gaming-adjacent tech, and have a little bit of experience and knowledge in hunting around and finding excellent deals when they're flying in from all over the place.

In this article, we've banged our heads together on what to expect from the big day (or rather, weekend) and what we think is likely to go on sale in that time so you can be prepared.

Which retailers are taking part in Black Friday 2025?

In short, a lot! Black Friday is normally the one shopping holiday a year that even retailers that don't really emphasise deals tend to take part in, and likewise, people that aren't in a hurry to buy something will wait until Black Friday.

Here are lists of UK and US retailers partaking in the sale, and some important dates to go with it:

• Amazon Black Friday - November 20 through December 1 (same as USA)
• Argos Black Friday - October 31 to December 2 (early deals already live)
• Currys Black Friday- already launched its 'Lowest Ever Price deals', and is offering a Black Friday price guarantee refund policy
• John Lewis Black Friday - some early John Lewis Black Friday deals already live, and is offering extensive price-matching against 25 of its main competitors.
• Scan Computers Black Friday - November 17th goes live
• Very Black Friday - Very Black Friday deals already live

US Black Friday participating retailers and dates

• Amazon Black Friday - November 20 through December 1
• Walmart Black Friday - November 14-16, November 25-30, December 1 only
• Best Buy Black Friday - Early deals already live: October 31-November 19, Black Friday Sale: November 20-29, Cyber Sunday & Monday: November 30-December 1

What do we expect to see on sale during Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2025?

We're expecting (and already have seen) price cuts on a variety of different tech items this Black Friday and Cyber Monday - here are some potential inclusions:

• 4K TVs and monitors - usually a heavy hitter for Black Friday sales. We've already started to see deep discounts on a range of screens, espcecially OLED gaming monitors and TVs that have dropped down to new lows in some cases.
• Consoles - potentially Xbox Series X, Series S and PS5 consoles could experience a price cut. Nintendo hasn't announced any Switch 2 reductions as part of its Black Friday strategy, but the original Switch could be discounted.
• Peripherals - Black Friday has also traditionally been a strong time to pick up cut-price keyboards, mice and controllers. Some from the likes of Logitech and Cherry have gone on sale at big retailers, plus discounts on official and third-party games controllers, and it's expected this will continue as we draw closer to the big day.
• Graphics cards - given that it seems the stock situation of new Intel, AMD and Nvidia GPUs have stabilised somewhat, we've seen prices on certain cards drop since release, potentially making Black Friday 2025 one of the best years for GPU sales in a while.
• PC components - the same can also be said for other components, such as processors, motherboards and power supplies - discounts on these are possible, and it's always worth looking out for bundle deals if you want to make your money go further.
• Headphones and other audio - indeed, this is also a great time to see reductions on other kit, such as audio gear including headphones, speakers, and hifi systems as we've seen in the past.

What won't be going on sale in Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2025?

As much as there should be a shedload of products expected to go on discount, you may be left scratching your head if you're after any of these:

• Nintendo Switch 2 - Nintendo's new console is still selling like hot-cakes at full MSRP, so sales on it aren't necessarily expected for Black Friday.
• RAM - RAM prices seem to have shot up in the last two months due to an AI boom, making real reductions on it quite hard to come by at a time when there were a lot more last year.
• 2025 gaming handhelds - much like with the Switch 2, the likes of the ROG Xbox Ally, Lenovo Legion Go 2 or MSI Claw A8 handhelds haven't been out for very long, and they probably won't experience any discount for Black Friday. It could potentially lead to discounts on older models, though.

Top tips for Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2025 shopping

It's always worth knowing how to sort the wheat from the chaff for Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals, so here are some bits of wisdom I've learnt over the years of covering these major sales that you can hopefully apply to your own shopping:

• Set a budget and make a list - So you don't overspend, ensure you've got an actual budget and a list of what you might look at for Black Friday. It's easy to purchase more than you should simply because something is on sale according to the retailer.
• Compare prices constantly - If you've got your heart set on a specific item for Black Friday, make sure you check prices at several retailers to ensure you're getting the best deal. Likewise, for Amazon, price history graphs such as Keepa or CamelCamelCamel can be vital in making sure you're getting an actual deal against what is simply marked as a reduction.
• Do your research - If you're making any purchase, let alone a big one such as a GPU or TV, it's best to check proper reviews from reputable publications that have tested a product and know if it's any good or not on expert opinion, rather than just dealing with Amazon reviews.
• Don't be afraid of refurbs or open box - Sometimes it's possible to snag already discounted products with an extra discount on Black Friday because it's an open-box or returned item. Manufacturer stores on eBay such as Ninja and retailers such as Currys Clearance are great for this - odds on you'll also be able to stack a couple of discount codes, too.
• Beware of AI - This one's a new one for this year I'd argue, as it's highly likely you might click the first link you see, which Google is likely to place as an AI summary or a sponsored link you click instead of the one you actualy meant to.
• Check if you really need it - I know this is an odd one, but Black Friday is a time for overt consumerism. Don't feel pressurised to buy something just because it's on sale. If you actually need it for something and you were going to buy it anyway, then there is a genuine saving; if you're getting it simply because it's on sale, then that's a different thing entirely.

I think that's about it for me in terms of what to expect from the big Black Friday sale this year, but be sure to keep checking back in as we won't be short of deals as we get closer to sale than you might want to take a look at.
