Aerodactyl is a Generation 1 Pokémon that can be acquired in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, but getting your hands on it isn't a matter of finding and catching it. Instead, you'll need to go about acquiring the Old Amber – a Fossil – which the Pokémon can be restored from at Pokémon Legends: Z-A's Research Lab.

You can't just waltz into the Research Lab with some Old Amber and demand an Aerodactyl however, as you'll need to complete an associated Side Mission first! Here's how to get Aerodactyl in Pokémon Legends: Z-A.

How to get Aerodactyl in Pokémon Legends Z-A

To get your hands on an Aerodactyl in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, or any Fossil Pokémon for that matter, you will need to complete Side Mission 27 - Restored From a Fossil at the Pokémon Research Lab.

This Side Mission tasks you with visiting the Stone Emporium and handing over your cash in exchange for any of the three Fossils available: the Jaw Fossil, Sail Fossil, and Old Amber. If you then take the Fossil you buy to the laboratory (2F) of the Pokémon Research Lab and give it to the NPC by the door, he will happily restore it into a Level 20 Pokémon for you.

After the Side Mission is complete, you are free to bring as many Fossils as you like to this NPC and he will restore them for you, free of charge. This is how you get yourself an Aerodactyl!

With the Side Mission completed, to get an Aerodactyl you need to purchase the Old Amber from the Stone Emporium for $30,000 (pictured above) and give this to the Pokémon Research Lab NPC (shown below). He will then restore it into a Level 20 Aerodactyl for you.

Doing this with the Sail Fossil and Jaw Fossil will get you Amaura and Tyrunt respectively.

How to get Aerodactylite in Pokémon Legends Z-A

Once you have your hands on an Aerodactyl, you'll want to get the Aerodactylite Mega Stone if you plan on using them and wish to Mega Evolve them in battle. Fortunately, you can easily get your hands on this by handing over 180 Mega Shards to Quasartico Inc.
