Rogue Mega Tyranitar recommended level
Rogue Mega Tyranitar is Level 59, therefore we recommend being between Level 57 and 64 to take them on. If you’re below this level it is possible to take them on, but try to build your team around their weaknesses instead, and if you’re at a higher level then this fight should be a bit easier for you.
Rogue Mega Tyranitar boss strategy
To prepare for this battle you’ll ideally want to build your team around Rogue Mega Tyranitar’s weaknesses, which are Water, Grass, Fighting, Ground, Bug, Steel and Fairy-types. You should avoid equipping any Psychic-types as Tyranitar is immune to them, also it’s worth paying attention to their resistances too.
Tyranitar hits hard and, when they’re enraged further into the battle, they can move quite fast too. We strongly advise keeping plenty of HP potions and Revives in your inventory because you can easily see your entire team of Pokémon wiped out in just a few short moves.
Remember you can use your Mega Ring to Mega Evolve once it’s full. If you’re at a lower level than Rogue Mega Tyranitar then we recommend waiting for your Mega Evolution and don’t use Plus Moves before this. However, if you’re at an equal level to or higher than them, then you can use a bit of your Mega Ring’s charge to use Plus Moves.
- Rock Slide (Rock-type) - Tyranitar will roar, causing rocks and debris to fall from the ceiling. The best way to avoid this is to keep moving, and to watch for shadows to appear on the ground as these will tell you where the rocks will land.
- Crunch (Dark-type) - Tyranitar will lean forward and snap out a large set of jaws in front of it that will crunch you or your Pokémon. Attacking Tyranitar from behind, or at a distance, is your best bet for avoiding this attack. This attack may also lower the target's Defense.
- Stone Edge (Rock-type) - This attack is more likely to happen on its own later in the fight when you've taken a good chunk of Tyranitar's HP. They'll grow more enraged, then stamp their foot on the ground repeatedly. This will send out multiple lines of stone spires that can catch you. As you did with Sand Tomb, look for the areas where the ground is bubbling and avoid standing in or anywhere near them.
- Giga Impact (Normal-type) - Tyranitar will begin to glow, head for you or your Pokémon and then slam its foot into the ground to try to crush you with this. Be warned, this hits very hard and can end you instantly.
- Sand Tomb (Ground-type) - Tyranitar will let out an epic roar that will spawn small sand whirlwinds around the area. Stay out of these whirlwinds and pull your Pokémon back into their Poké Balls if you need to. Be warned, later in the battle this will become a big AOE attack that's hard to avoid getting hit by, so try to preserve your Pokémon and take the hit yourself if you can safely do so.
- Also sometimes during this attack they will pull energy into themselves to charge up and then cause multiple huge stone spires to appear from the ground in front of them. To avoid these, look for the ground to start bubbling - this is showing you where the spires will appear. Don't stand anywhere near or on these (while also avoiding the whirlwinds) and you'll be fine!
Your reward for defeating Rogue Mega Tyranitar is Tyranitarite. This is the Mega Stone you need to Mega Evolve a Tyranitar during battle.
Good luck battling Rogue Mega Tyranitar!
