Rogue Mega Starmie recommended level
Rogue Mega Starmie is Level 59 in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, therefore we recommend being between Level 57 and 64. These battles are doable at lower Levels, but you will need to ensure you've a party packed with Pokémon that Rogue Mega Banette is weak to if you wish to be successful.
Rogue Mega Starmie boss strategy
Pokémon Legends: Z-A will often mention Plus Moves. These are powerful moves that can be performed by consuming Mega Power from your Mega Ring. While it can be tempting to use these, I highly recommend saving all of your Mega Power for Mega Evolving a Pokémon of your choice. While Mega Evolved, all of that Pokémon's moves are Plus Moves, so you'll really be making the most of your Mega Power.
The only exception to this rule is if you don't have a Pokémon that caters to Starmie's weaknesses that can also be Mega Evolved. In this instance, it might be worth using the Plus Moves of a Pokémon who can cater to Starmie's weaknesses, in an attempt to reduce their HP more quickly. Ideally though, you'll Mega Evolve a 'mon that Starmie is weak to; you should have the likes of Absol, Banette, Ampharos, Victreebel and their Mega Stones by now, so make use of those!
You'll also want to prepare for Rogue Mega Starmie's moveset. The attacks (and special abilities) they use are as follows:
- Aqua Jet (Water-type) - Starmie will disappear into the sky before then landing on the player with a crash of water. Once he disappears after this attack, run and dodge to avoid him landing on you.
- Zen Headbutt (Psychic-type) - Starmie rams its head at you/your Pokémon.
- Water Pulse (Water-type) - Starmie sends out a pulsing jet of water in front of it. Keep your distance and/or to its side.
- Whenever Starmie begins to charge up in the middle of the arena, prepare to dodge. He will soon run – very quickly – at you, and you'll want to steer clear of his path while trying not to laugh at how silly he looks doing this.
While you can brute force your way through the Rogue Mega Starmie fight using any overlevelled Pokémon, if you're going into this fight at an equal level or lower, you'll want to bring along Pokémon that cater to Starmie's weaknesses to Bug, Grass, Ghost, Dark, and Electric-types. With this amount of weaknesses, you fortunately have lots of choice as to who to bring along with you. Just be careful to avoid Fighting, Steel, Fire, Water, Psychic, and Ice-types during this fight, as Starmie is capable of dealing double damage to those.
Upon beating Rogue Mega Starmie in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, you'll be rewarded with the Starminite Mega Stone, which can be used to Mega Evolve a Starmie during battle.
Good luck beating Rogue Mega Starmie in Pokémon Legends: Z-A!
