By this point in your adventure around Lumoise City you should have collected a decent amount of Pokémon to take them on. As with most Rogue Mega Pokémon battles in Pokémon Legends: Z-A dodging is vital, as you can be targeted as well as your Pokémon.
On that note, here are Rogue Mega Camerupt's weaknesses and counters in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, as well as tips on how to beat them.

Rogue Mega Camerupt recommended level
Rogue Mega Camerupt’s Level is 34, therefore we recommend being between Level 32 and 39 to take them on. If you're below this level it is possible to take them on, but try to build your team around their weaknesses instead.
Rogue Mega Camerupt boss strategy
To prepare for this battle, you’ll ideally want to build your team around Rogue Mega Camerupt’s weaknesses which are Water and Ground-types. If you chose Totodile as your starter, there’s a good chance you’ll have Feraligatr by this point and if you do, use them! Otherwise, Gyarados has proven quite effective.
For this entire fight, you do not want to get too close to them or the battle will be over very quickly. Rogue Mega Camerupt will chase you to get closer and the best thing you can do is just keep moving.
In these fights you can use your Mega Ring to Mega Evolve your chosen Pokémon once it’s full. If you’re at a lower level than Rogue Mega Camerupt then we recommend waiting for your Mega Evolution and don’t use Plus Moves before this. However, if you're at an equal level to or higher than them, then you can use a bit of your Mega Ring’s charge to use Plus Moves.
Here are Rogue Mega Camerupt's attacks and abilities:
- Head Butt (Normal-type) - Jolts forward swiftly, don't stand too close to them and you should easily avoid this attack.
- Earth Power (Ground-type) - Stands in one spot, charges up then creates large rocks up from the ground. Look for the glowing spot on the ground, this is your warning of where the rocks will appear. Run away, don't get too close to that spot to avoid getting hit.
- Eruption (Fire-type) - These large molten boulders will be shot from Camerupt's back 'volcano'. Watch for the 'volcano' to start to bubble at the top as the warning for this attack. Also, pay attention to Lida as she'll give you a warning with 'It's raining danger'.
- Lava Plume (Fire-type) - Watch out! They'll stand still, pulling energy in towards themselves and fire large fire balls out in front of it towards you. To avoid this, keep moving and don't get too close to them.
Remember, you can use healing items or revives to keep your chosen Pokémon in the fight for longer. Just be careful when you use them you can only use one at a time and there’s a cooldown period before they’re available again.
When you defeat Rogue Mega Camerupt, you’ll be rewarded with Cameruptite. This is a Mega Stone used for Mega Evolving a Camerupt during a battle.
Good luck beating Rogue Mega Camerupt in Pokémon Legends: Z-A!
