Your next Rogue Mega encounter in Pokémon Legends: Z-A is the rather adorable Rogue Mega Amphorus. After having been promoted to Rank D, battling it out with Ivor, and completing some jobs for the Rust Syndicate, it's time to begin working towards attaining Rank C in Pokémon Legends: Z-A.

This means completing more Rogue Mega battles across Lumiose City, including Rogue Mega Amphorus, who is found hiding on one of the many rooftops (near Wild Zone 4). Rogue Mega Ampharos recommended level

Rogue Mega Ampharos is Level 48 in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, therefore we recommend being between Level 46 and 53. You can attempt to battle him a few levels lower than this, but make sure to try and cater your party of Pokémon around his weaknesses.

Rogue Mega Ampharos boss strategy

As is the case for all Rogue Mega battles in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, we highly recommend saving your Mega Power for Mega Evolving one of your Pokémon, rather than using it to power the occasional Plus Move. When one of your Pokémon is Mega Evolved, all of their moves become Plus Moves and you'll get a lot more out of Mega Evolving them overall, as opposed to enhancing their attacks and leaving them unevolved.

On top of that, to make light work of Rogue Mega Ampharos, you ultimately want to bring along some Pokémon that cater to its weaknesses, such as Rock/Ground-type Onix, Ice-type Glalie, or Psychic/Fairy-type Gardevoir. These will do more damage than any neutral Pokémon, often landing critical hits, and will help with depleting Rogue Mega Ampharos' HP much quicker.

You'll also want to prepare for Rogue Mega Ampharos's moveset. The attacks (and special abilities) he uses are as follows:

  • Breaking Swipe (Dragon-type) – Ampharos swipes his arm in front of him, attacking any Trainers or Pokémon in his way.
  • Dragon Pulse (Dragon-type) – Ampharos fires a lengthy blue jetstream towards opponents in front of him.
  • Charge (Electric-type) – A non-damaging move that allows Rogue Mega Ampharos to double the damage of their next Electric-type attack.
  • Electric Terrain (Electric-type) – Ampharos will summon electrical spots on the ground around the arena that you'll want to try and avoid while still attacking him.
  • Thunder (Electric-type) – At approximately 50% HP, Rogue Mega Ampharos becomes enraged and will unleash Thunder around the arena, targeting the player. You'll need to outrun this attack until it is over. This attack also has a chance of paralysing targets.
  • Ampharos is generally very mobile and will often (quite goofily) run around the arena to reposition himself. Steer clear of his path!

Upon beating Rogue Mega Ampharos in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, you'll be rewarded with the Ampharosite Mega Stone, which can be used to Mega Evolve an Ampharos during battle.

Good luck beating Rogue Mega Ampharos in Pokémon Legends: Z-A!
