PlayStation State of Play November 2025 live report - a blur of smaller Japanese games but few big announcements
Dragon Quest 7 3D remake! Elden Ring Nightreign DLC! Fatal Frame 2 remake date!
Happy Bloodborne remake day! Wait let's not get ahead of ourselves. Sony's delivering a State of Play broadcast this evening from 10pm UK time and we'll be covering all of the announcements, as they happen, right here in this article. It's like magic and it's very handy for if you're out but don't want to miss out.
What's more - and as if you needed any encouragement - you can chat along with us. Tell us what you think and how you think the show is going. Give it a rating out of 10 if you like. You don't even have to use a star system.
So what's Sony's plan for the evening? The show will be 40 minutes long and focus on PS5 games made in Japan and Asia, Sony said yesterday, "alongside a few other exciting updates". The PS5 is just turning five years old, incidentally, which could provide Sony with a moment for a meaningful announcement.
And what more meaningful announcement is there to make, you say, than a Bloodborne remake? What indeed, fair reader, what indeed! After all, wasn't Bloodborne made in Japan? The stars are aligning. The stage is set. Do it, Sony, you cowards - do it!
Ahem.
PlayStation at 10pm, then. Join us (or risk missing a piece of history!).
Our live coverage of this event has finished.
Well, here we are again, in a live blog. Have you missed them? You have - I know you have! You've missed this level of personal interaction. You can't fool me.
But onto more pressing matters: how excited for Sony's show tonight are you? Admittedly, the base line-up sounds like it could be a bit dull, barring a Bloodborne out-of-nowhere announcement of course. But that little tease yesterday of a special announcement - what's all that about? That gives me hope.
The build-up to Sony's five-year PS5 anniversary show
It's build-up time. Let's build. Let's speculate!
I'll take a glimpse at PlayStation 6, please. Pop Mark Cerny on camera to say something vague about new projects he's working on (and I don't mean another Knack game). That'd get us gassing.
Kami says: *sigh* Here we go again... Mr Sony, we do want Bloodborne so...
That's the spirit. We only need collectively believe to make it so!
Danzig85 says: The itinerary has already leaked online:
- 0 - 10 minutes: Bloodborne Remake
- 11 - 20 minutes: Bloodborne 2 reveal
- 21 - 30 minutes: Bloodborne - Escape From Yharnam (Extraction shooter)
- 31 - 38 minutes: Bloodborne 2 Remake world premier
- 39 - 40 minutes: Bloodborne/Balatro crossover exclusive reveal
That's the spirit!
MarcusJ says: Tokyo Jungle remake or sequel, please.
Do you hear this, Sony - do you hear? Give the people what they want.
Taking a break for now ahead of the show. See you all later on.
15 minutes to go
H1ppyDave says: Where in the name of Father Gascoigne is Bertie?!
I'm here, I'm here! Full disclosure: I was playing Dispatch. But I'm here now. Sony didn't announce Bloodborne yet did it?
2much says:
- B is for Blood!
- L is for Loran!
- O is for Orphan of Kos!
- O is for Of the blood!
- D is for Darkbeast Paarl!
- B is for Beast!
- O is for One Reborn!
- R is for Rom, the Vacuous Spider!
- N is for Nightmare!
- E is for Exclusively on PlayStation, for the Players!
Oh I love this. The question is will it format okay? No it won't so let me sort it out...
Anrkist says: Orange Box Remastered confirmed!
Oh that's a good one.
Kami says: The answer, it seems, is no Bertie. It's okay though. You Tried! XD
I won't admit defeat. We're doing this.
GajKnight says: Rule of Rose remaster. I feel it in the air.
I don't even know what this game is and I like the suggestion more because of it.
Nathan-DTS says: Just downed some diazepam so I'm expecting to be out of it by 10. I look forward to reading about Astro Bot Kart and the shadow drop of Kojima's SIGINT when I wake up.
Sweet dreams, Nathan.
Cookie_Monster says: I love the way the cat thing is bopping its head so much it's whole body moves 🤣
It looks a bit like it's panting?
Kami says: Oh Bertie, the Rule of Rose rabbithole is fascinating! One of the very few games to be released and THEN banned in the UK!
Uh oh. Me and my big mouth.
Malek86 says: I'll pretend we have some chances of seeing a Folklore remake, and hope for the best.
Folklore, Folklore... That rings a bell. A small bell, admittedly, but a bell nonetheless. I give up - I'm Googling it. No, I still don't know it! The first video I found for it was titled, "The Game No One Could Understand." I'm now mildly fascinated.
spookyxelectric says: GIVE ME RIDGE RACER
Just in time for a new Sony handheld device. A new Sony wingmirror. Where's Kaz Hirai when you need him? Actually, where is Kaz Hirai - what does he do now?
A cursory search tells me Hirai is probably retired. Apparently he was still on a Sony advisory board until last year. I bet he's watching on his PlayStation 5 Pro tonight. He probably got sent it for free.
Two minutes. Big start? I'm predicting a big start. Get an announcement out there to get the people talking. Start strong.
Cookie_Monster says: Noo!! Frikkin no snacks apart from ......pumpkin seeds 😩
Pumpkin seeds toasted in a dry pan and then splashed with soy sauce are a lovely thing.
But there's no time for that - the show's about to start!
The show begins
Here we go.
Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined opens the show
What's up first? More of that interminable music!
No, we're over to our host for the night, whose name I've already forgotten. He's got a nice cardigan on though.
We're going to look at Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined first.
This reminds me such much of Blue Dragon, which is probably to say that Blue Dragon was made to remind us of Dragon Quest.
These voice-overs, though: puke! Look, I get it, I get it, it's upbeat charm, but it's very grating. Looks good, though, even if the mouths don't move when the characters talk.
That's coming 5th February by the way. Do your job, Bertie, do your job.
A convenience store game now, where we're a clerk. Interesting idea. You've got to restock the shelves and that's it.
Now a gmae that looks an awful lot like Coffee Talk, but with Japanese-inspired folklore characters. Ah it's Coffee Talk Tokyo - that explains it.
Horror from BrokenLore now - two games. Brokenlore: Unfollow. This is promising. We're seeing a house in many different ways. But now a huge dismembered neck slithering along the floor.
Also, Brokenlore: Ascend, a first-person horror. It's set in Tokyo and you have to climb Tokyo Tower. But what awaits you at the top is a terrifying yokai.
These games are flitting by so quickly.
Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Remake coming in March
Tecmo Koei now, or is it Koei Tecmo - I wish they'd just stick to one way of naming these companies.
A Crimson Butterfly remake, this looks like. We're a girl who's taking pictures of ghosties. Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Remake.
A date?
12th March 2026.
We're hearing a bit more about the remake in an interview spot. Light and shadow is very important in the game, and the textures of clothes are more realistic now. The game is about photographing ghosts. There are new zoom elements this time, and filters which affect what you can see.
There's some more news apparently. Oh, it's a Digital Deluxe Edition. Boring. It's got some lace gloves in it though.
Koei Tecmo has one more announcement.
Omega Force.
Dynasty Warriors?
It looks a lot like Dynasty Warriors. Huge armies being slashed apart by incredibly powerful warriors.
It's Dynasty Warriors Origins: Visions of Four Heroes, coming 22nd January.
Gran Turismo 7 Power Pack brings 24-hour race to the game
Kaz Yamauchi from Polyphony now, the maker of Gran Turismo. He's got an announcement for us apparently.
It's sold 100 million units. Go on... The Gran Turismo 7 Power Pack is coming out. What is it?
The Power Pack is real racing, he says. It's got the Le Mans 24-hour race in it. Yamauchi-san has raced this in real life, you know.
So it's about getting more realistic racing in the game. A realistic racing add-on, it sounds like.
We're getting a glimpse at some smaller games now, like a Wuxia retro-styled RPG with turn-based battling, it looks like. Looks nice.
Ah and here's a character in fluffy pants and a crop top, because of course. This is an existing game coming to PS5 with enhanced visuals. AI: No Sleep for the Wicked or something, coming in February.
I'll check that game name out later.
Tokyo Xtreme Racer now, which might as well be Ridge Racer. Does it count if it looks a bit like Ridge Racer? That's also coming later in February.
Bandai Namco now. Katamari Damacy! But wait - Dance Dance Remixes? What is going on? Oh it's DLC with new music.
Sonic is coming to Pac-Man World, and it looks like he's bringing some actual Sonic stages to the game too.
Digimon Story: Time Stranger is getting some DLC to introduce new characters and new story. The first episode is out this winter.
Super Robot Wars Y - a Gundam game it looks like - is also getting some extra content too.
Right, onwards.
Monster Hunter Wilds Update 4 arrives in December
Free Title Update 4 for Monster Hunter Wilds launches December 16th. It brings endgame content as well as seasonal updates.
Sonic Racing now and we're getting a SpongeBob pack on 20th November.
Never Grave: The Witch and the Curse now, a side-scrolling platformer with a dainty anime style. It looks like you can turn into a big beast in it, and play with your friends. And build levels? A curious blend. There's some sort of skill tree.
It does have Hollow Knight vibes - indeed.
The publisher is Pocketpair. It's coming on 5th March or 3rd May. I dislike the alternating date formats. I expect it's 5th March.
Kami says: So Hollow Knight with a dash of Terraria.
Good read.
Blazblue side-scrolling beat-'em-up coming in February
Onwards! The pace of this show is relentless.
A space-set game now and a fox-like character in a long coat. Arc System Works!
It's a side-scrolling beat-'em-up by the looks of things. A Blazblue sidescroller? Goodness me that lady has an enormous chest - is that really necessary?
A mixture of gameplay and anime-style cutscenes.
Blazblue Entropy Effect X, arriving 12th February, it seems.
Ghibli says: Oh I’m in. Damon and Baby. Immediately sold.
That did look interesting!
Fate Trigger now, which is a third-person multiplayer hero shooter, it looks like. It's a strange blend of anime and military shooting. And that's whizzed by.
This presentation is a blur!
Square Enix now and an announcement about a beloved series. Strap in!
Oh. It looks like Octopath Traveler.
It is. It's Octopath Traveler O. I'm hearing that this was a slightly disappointing mobile game that's been rejigged for console, which is a shame.
That's coming out 4th December by the way, when you should really be doing your Christmas shopping, if you celebrate.
Oh you can play the first three hours of the game now, apparently.
A couple of people from Arc System Works are here to do a quick interview now. They're taking about Marvel Tokon, which Connor is very excited about, and I'm sure Alex is too.
They're not saying much of consequence but the game looks good. This is Sony's big push into the fighting game space of course.
We're seeing a new trailer from the closed beta test. Spider-Man and Cap are duking it out. Ghost Rider is there, getting all hot-headed. I wonder if this really will do the business Sony hopes it will. Looks smart so far.
Will we get a release date today I wonder?
Yeah, we whizzed along and then fell down a Marvel Tokon hole.
Kami says: Wait, a car?! Ghost Rider?! Wasn't his thing a motorcycle or am I getting Mandela Effect'ed?
It certainly was a bike! I watched the film with Nic Cage in and everything.
Oh, and that's it for Marvel Tokon. They want you to play the second closed beta test, which sounds like it's coming on 5th December.
Rahmus says: Type of vehicle depends on who the Ghost Rider is. The younger chap in Midnight Suns drove a car.
That is good lore.
Elden Ring Nightreign: Forsaken Hollows coming 4th December
Edlen Ring Nightreigh additional content now.
We're seeing a trailer montaging the new bits and bobs coming to the game.
The Forsaken Hollows, the add-on is called, and it's coming 4th Decmeber.
A five-year PS5 spot now and we're talking about Astro's Playroom and how the DualSense controller works with it. It seems to just be a reminder that the DualSense has some cool features.
There's a PlayStation APp. We know that. You can play PS4 games. We know that. You can play on a PS Portal. We know that. There's a PS Gaming Monitor. We knew that. There's a PS wireless speaker. We knew that.
It's a whole PlayStation family.#
Lastly... This is for the Japanese market. There's going to be a Japanese-language edition of the console, which I didn't realise there wasn't already.
Don't panic but I think that might be it.
We're in wrap-up territory now, recapping what we've seen today.
SBandy says: Ahh copying Nintendo's approach with the cheaper Switch 2 only for Japanese market.
Good reference.
At least it was brisk.
A very thin showing ends
There wasn't a lot to write about in that show, sadly, as nice as it was to see some smaller games get a bit of air time.
Marvel Tokon took the lion's share of the 40 minutes, and there were a couple of add-on announcements, and a cheaper PS5 model announced for the Japanese market, but that was it.
No Bloodborne remake, I'm afraid, which feels deflating even though it was only a running joke.
This really was a broadcast intended for Japan.
Ghibli says: Apart from Damon and Baby I don’t really want anything they’re. But I’m just happy to see them really embracing Japanese devs again.
This is a nice and optimistic way of looking at it. The convenience store game looked intriguing, too.
Good night one and all and thanks for joining me and making that a little more interesting. It is to The Game Awards we look next, I suppose. To the marathon.
Farewell for now!
