How to get Granite in Winter Burrow

Finding Granite in Winter Burrow is crucial if you want to build out your home, craft better items, and progress in the story.

You'll first be tasked with finding Granite in Winter Burrow to repair your basement stairs, but you'll need to progress a bit more to be able to find any. Namely, you'll need to wait until something happens to Aunty...

On that note, here's how to get Granite in Winter Burrow.

How to get Granite in Winter Burrow

To get Granite in Winter Burrow you need to find loose Granite or use a Granite Pickaxe to break open larger boulders.

Loose Granite Chunk locations in Winter Burrow

To start looking for loose Granite you need to wait for Aunty to be kidnapped by the Owl and then get a Pickaxe. Once you've done both of these things, you'll be able to search freely for loose Granite - and they're easier to find than you think!

You can technically look for Granite before getting the Pickaxe after Aunty is taken, but we recommend getting this tool before moving on as it comes in handy.

So far, we've found two places where you can reliably source loose Granite that you can pick up and collect without the special Pickaxe.

The first place you can find Granite chunks is outside of Bufo's home to the east of Aunty's house. We've typically found them tucked in the corners of the main pathways, or on the edge of the water here. They are slightly bigger, darker and more jagged than a pebble:

You can also find Granite chunks to the north of your Burrow. You'll need to use your Pickaxe to break the rocks blocking your path here first. When you've done this, continue north and you should be able to find Granite chunks. However, this is a tougher area so we'd recommend waiting a while before attempting this.

Granite Boulder locations in Winter Burrow

Now, after you complete the 'An Axe for Bufo' quest, you'll be rewarded with the Granite Pickaxe crafting recipe. You can then use this Pickaxe on Granite Boulders you come across, as your first Sandstone Pickaxe will not be strong enough.

You can find plenty of Granite Boulders in the area between Aunty's house and Bufo's home. The boulders you're looking for are slightly sharper in shape than other boulers. They're also darker and slighlty blue in colour as well as a bit smaller than the general Pebble boulders.

When you find one, simply attack it a few times with your Granite Pickaxe and you'll get one or multiple pieces of Granite from it. You might even get a Pebble or two as well.
