Recruiting the Friendly Klaus as an ally in Ashes of the Damned is something you’ll want to do if you’re looking for additional assistance to fight the hordes of undead in Black Ops 7 Zombies.

Additionally, you’ll need to recruit Klaus should you be looking to complete the main quest easter egg and build the wonder weapon in the launch map for Black Ops 7 Zombies.

To help you along through this step, we’ll run through how to get the Friendly Klaus easter egg in Ashes of the Damned, as well as how to command Klaus.

Before getting into the match, it’s worth mentioning that equipping Stun Grenades to your loadout will be a handy inclusion since they are required for the second part of the guide. Though if not, they can be found around the map.

The first main step to getting Klaus to assist you, however, is to defeat a Panzerklaus mini boss which can be found in the starting area, Janus Towers Plaza. Defeating them gets you the Stablizer Chip.

For this mini-boss to spawn though, you’ll need to reach around Round 10, and you should know that this can be a challenging fight due to how much health the boss has.

Once you’re prepared, head to Janus Towers Plaza and move towards the west exit (as if you’re going to Blackwater Lake), and look up along the wall where all the debris is above. Approaching this area should cause the mini boss to burst out.

Once they’re free, you’ll want to make sure you keep your distance, hitting their glowing-blue shoulders to deal a bit of extra damage since they’re fairly shielded otherwise.

Slowly whittle away at their health, and once they’re down, the inner Klaus will pop out and you'll have to fight them. Once they're down, you can pick up the Stabilizer Chip from where the Panzerklaus was defeated.

Once you’ve got that, you’ll want to head over to Ashwood where you’ll now be able to free the friendly Klaus.

For this next step, you’ll need some Stun Grenades - as mentioned earlier, you can either use ones you have equipped to your loadout, or find them around the map be it from drops or buying them with Salvage.

Once you’re in Ashwood, you want to head over to the Sheriff's office which you can reach via the rappel line opposite the garage where you find Pack-a-Punch.

Up on that side is the Sheriff's Office, which you’ll need to spend points to enter.

Once inside, use the Stabilizer Chip on the jail cell door, and following the dialogue that plays out, throw four Stun Grenades at Klaus - these might bounce around the room a bit and affect you, but they should still affect him.

Afterwards, Klaus will wake up and break out of the chair before flying out of the building. Following this point, Klaus will now be an NPC you can summon at various locations around the map, whether by using your Tactical Grenade input, or by one of the various radio-like you can spot in each of the main zones.

As a heads up, if you end up picking up another Tactical grenade, you can call Klaus back by using these devices.

Whilst Klaus can act as a buddy-type NPC, fighting zombies alongside you, he’s someone you’ll need to recruit when building the Necrofluid Gauntlet Wonder Weapon, and taking on the map’s main quest easter egg.

Hope you enjoy your new companion! We've also got guides on getting free Wisp Tea and upgrading Ol' Tessie.
