How to evolve Haunter into Gengar in Pokémon Legends: Z-A
How to get Gengar.
Having Haunter in Pokémon Legends: Z-A means you’re just one step away from getting the Ghost and Poison-type Pokémon, Gengar.
Gengar does need you to take part in a bit of trading if you want to add them to your collection in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. However, you do have a couple of options for catching Haunter to prepare for this.
On that note, here’s how to evolve Haunter in Pokémon Legends: Z-A.

How to get Haunter in Pokémon Legends Z-A
First of all, to evolve a Haunter in Gengar, you need to catch a Haunter! Haunter is found in Wild Zone 15 at night.
However, you can also start at the very beginning of this evolution chain and catch a Gastly, which you then can evolve into a Haunter. If you choose to do this, we recommend using EXP Candy to boost it up to Haunter quickly. Gastly is found in Wild Zone 4 during both the day and night.
If you’re lucky, you can find these Pokémon hanging around Lumiose City at night, but your best option for getting them is to visit one of the Wild Zones listed above.
How to evolve Haunter into Gengar
To evolve a Haunter into Gengar, you will need to take part in a Trade Evolution. This means that you must trade your Haunter with another player for it to evolve into Gengar.
- When you trade Haunter, the person getting the Haunter will see the Pokémon evolve into Gengar. They then need to send Gengar back to you if you want to add it to your party or Pokédex.
- You can use the Trade Code 0066 0066 to quickly trade with another player anywhere in the world. However, as always, be careful when trading Pokémon online with strangers as not everyone can play by the rules.
How to catch Gengar
There is an opportunity to catch Gengar during Side Mission 64 - Apartment Block Eeriness, but you can fail this. During this you should try catching him when his HP is low (rather than after knocking him out) as a failed catch after a knockout sees them disappear. Also, use Ultra Balls or Timer Balls.
Good luck evolving Haunter into Gengar in Pokémon Legends: Z-A!
